Abstract

Quadratic image filters are a special subclass of Volterra filters which also referred to as polynomial filters. Quadratic filters are usually implemented using first order and second order terms. Because of its nonlinear structure, Quadratic image filters provide higher performance than linear filters in different fields such as noise removing, contrast enhancement, image enhancement etc. Although Quadratic image filtering requires intense processing, the use of such filters has increased in recent years, along with the high processing power of computers. In literature there are various applications such as image enhancement, contrast enhancement, image repair, image zooming. The aim of this study is to give a literature overview about Quadratic image filters.
