Abstract
Brisson, Pat. Mama Loves Me From Away. Laurie Caple, illustrator. Honesdale, PA: Boyds Mills Press, 2004. 32 pp., $15.95. Ages 7 years and up. Sugar misses her mother and the stories her mother would share with her. She misses her mother so much that it makes her grandmother’s stories less compelling. Sugar shares her mother’s birthday and makes her a card to take when she and her grandmother make their weekly trip to visit. Sugar is surprised when her mother presents her a handmade book of seven stories with illustrations, one for each day. She tells Sugar to read every night at 8 and she will think of Sugar then so that they can to be ‘‘together.’’
