Abstract
The vehicular ad hoc network (VANET), as an important part of the intelligent transportation system, has a crucial impact on traffic safety and efficiency. And its security issues have attracted many researchers. The secure communication among entities is particularly important due to the openness of the VANET environment. In this paper, we propose a lightweight secure and efficient authentication and key agreement protocol for VANET in order to implement secure communication. The scheme only uses lightweight computation to achieve anonymity, integrity and mutual authentication among entities.
