Abstract
In circumstances where high tension can cause damage to digital circuits and where common mode sources can interfere with the Camac signals, a light coupled stage will be helpful. The highway driver here described has been in use since January 1972 and drives different crates located over distances of about 100 m from the computer. The coupling stage isolates against differences in common mode potentials and protects against sudden high potential pulses occuring on experimenter side. Port input and output are according to the Camac specifications.
