Abstract
Percutaneous device closure of atrial septal defects has been increasingly used during the last 30 years because of its ease and relative safety. Various complications have been reported but remain uncommon. Most of them occur in the first days after implantation. We report here late aortic and left atrial perforation by occluder struts, complicated by acute cardiac tamponade, 28 months after device implantation. Our report illustrates the possibility of late life-threatening complications of percutaneous atrial devices.
