Abstract

Various transcriptional subtypes of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) have been proposed.1-7 Although there are some differences among them, each of these studies independently identified 2 common transcriptional subtypes, basal-like and classical. Basal-like subtype tumors are characterized by aggressive biology and poor patient survival, whereas classical subtype tumors are notable for their high sensitivity to chemotherapy. Approximately three-quarters of patients harbor classical subtype PDAC6; however, the cell lines commonly available for research are predominantly defined as basal-like.
