Abstract

The definition of sports injury is not consensual, allowing for different frameworks, classifications, and therapeutic programs. It has a high prevalence in the community and, due to its consequences, it is understood as a public health problem. Considering the conceptual orientation of the World Health Organization and the idea of functionality, it is important to promote the transition from the biomedical model to the biopsychosocial model in the context of sports injuries.
