Abstract
If my calculations are correct, this edition of Primary Health Care will be published shortly before RCN Congress and in the run up to a general election – but who knows? The future is unpredictable, unknown and not for the fainthearted. What we do know is that the pressure is on. Health ministers are desperate for good news on the NHS front, and full of seductive promises on how wonderful things will be in the future if they happen to be re-elected. As always, there is good and bad news and, without doubt, there are parts of the NHS which have dramatically improved and there is still along way to go.
