Abstract
This literature review is modeled after a series of articles on a variety of technical services topics published in Library Resources and Technical Services a decade ago. John Riddick last reviewed the serials literature in 1993 for the year before. Rather than fill in the remaining years in the 1990s, this review leaps forward a decade to the literature of 2002 and focuses on American academic libraries. The topics covered for 1992 provide the framework to consider the contemporary literature: cataloging and specifications, networked information and electronic publishing, collection development, serials pricing, serials management, conference reports, and end pieces. The exception is the absence of CD-ROM serials in 2002.
