Abstract

These lectures were originally delivered in 1974 at the University of Central America in El Salvador by the Jesuit philosopher and theologian, Ignacio Ellacuría. They represent the author's attempt to demonstrate the importance of Ignatius of Loyola's Spiritual Exercises for the work of formulating a Christian theology and ecclesial praxis that are responsive to the particular sociohistorical needs of the Latin American Church (and, by extension, to other local churches). They are translated into English here for the first time.
