Abstract
A description is given of a large-volume Cherenkov counter with diffuse reflecting inside walls. Particular attention is given to the timing properties and it is shown that the chosen combination of the reflectivity of the walls and the number of photomultiplier tubes gives an output rise time of about 12 ns. The performance of the counter in two experiments is discussed.
