Abstract
SummaryA sampler is described that will take 12 cm cores, 1.5 m long, from peat and compacted organic lake sediments. The sampler tube has a longitudinal slit to obviate compression and is provided with a plastic liner. The sampler is driven by lever chain‐hoists. For insertion, the hoists are attached to basal members of a scaffold‐pole rig secured to the deposit by long pins.
