Abstract

The synchronized collaborative design within heterogeneous CAD systems becomes a significant challenge because of the great difference in the modeling operations and underground data structures between different CAD systems. A feasible way is to build a neutral operation to aid the conversion of operations among different CAD systems. This paper first proposes a collaborative architecture with heterogeneous CAD systems, then a neutral modeling language presented used to aid the mapping of operations between CAD systems. The language is built by means of feature modeling technique and different analysis of operation commands from heterogeneous CAD systems such as ProEngineering, Unigraphics, SolidWorks, Inventor, MDT. A neutral operation set is developed based on the language of neutral modeling command to verify the feasibility.
