Abstract

Introduction: There are many described bone augmentation techniques for dentoalveolar ridge defects. Classical bone block augmentation increases the bone stock but does not necessarily regenerate the ridge in all dimensions with a sufficient cancellous scaffold. The bone ring harvest technique delivers a transplanted ring-shaped plug of mainly cancellous and a limited rim of cortical bone, often requiring additional allograft augmentation. We present a novel technique, which combines the harvest of a cancellous ring with a full-length cortical wall.
