Abstract

Assignment problem is a well-known topic and is used very often in solving problems of engineering and management sciences. In this paper, the cost (c ij denotes the cost of assigning the jth job to the ith person) of the assignment problem is considered as generalized trapezoidal intuitionistic fuzzy numbers that is usually deterministic in nature. Here, we present an algorithm based on labeling technique for solving intuitionistic fuzzy optimal assignment problems. This algorithm offers significant advantages in the process of solving the problem, so that, we can define the assignment matrix by using the ranking method, and then we obtain a perfect matching for the assignment problem. Illustrative numerical example is provided to demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed method. The proposed algorithm is easy to understand and apply to find the optimal solution for all types of assignment problems with costs as generalized trapezoidal intuitionistic fuzzy numbers.
