Abstract

The image of Krishna, or Krsna, appears often in the art of India. There arc large temple images carved in stone relief, colorful Rajput paintings on manuscript, and free-standing metal images cast in bronze, copper, brass, and wood, although few of the last have survived. The Krishna of the Art Gallery collection at Notre Dame. (fig. I) is a metal cast, probably of the late period South Indian from the Madura region.
