Abstract

Boeing's Active Rack Isolation System (ARIS) isolates space-science experiments on the International Space Station against station-induced disturbances, at the rack-level. Part 1 of this documentation presented a linearised model of ARIS, hand-developed via Kane's method. Part 2 reported the use of software packages to develop and verify a corresponding nonlinear model, without umbilicals. Part 3, below, reports on: umbilical addition to the nonlinear model; model verification against simple truth models. Verification checks against truth models indicate that the proposed nonlinear model, when properly calibrated against experimental data, offers a high-fidelity representation of ARIS for simulation and controller-design purposes.
