Abstract

Multiculturalism is a characteristic of modern times and it assumes that different professionals are able to relate to different cultures as well as have international academic mobility. In order to prepare such professionals, higher education faces the challenge of inserting itself in the international context, justifying the present study that sought to discuss the process of internationalization within the Federal Institute of Piauí (IFPI). We observe how government programs and actions developed by IFPI focused on the expansion of internationalization to influence teaching, research and outreach community projects at IFPI. Thus, we analyzed the internationalization process at IFPI through the participation of undergraduate students in academic mobility programs. As a result, we could verify that the process is still in the beginning but with the perspective of a larger engagement by the academic community in the near future.
