Abstract
In this paper we are presenting a part of a research in which we propose a therapy based on Bakthin`s theory about speech genres. The objective was to analyze the contribution of this theory to clinical speech therapy field. In order to perform our proposal, we have developed a therapeutic treatment in a group formed by five subjects who had complaints about their reading and writing skills. Our objective in therapy was to write a play - that was based on the adaptation of a novel read during the therapy – to publish it in a website and to stage it. Because of the size of this paper, here we will present just the interlocution with one of the subjects of the group - the subject ED – during the process of writing the play. All data was analyzed according to the dialogism. The results suggest that practices based on a discursive perspective were effective because the group – immersed in meaningful contexts of language use – developed linguistic and discursive competences necessary in reading and writing. We conclude that the proposal of a genre based therapy is viable because it motivates people to interact with reading and writing, supporting advances in their possibilities as readers and writers.
