Abstract

It proposes a promising power flow analysis method for radial distribution system with distributed generations (DGs), combined with reactive power compensation facilities. In the power flow analysis, suitable models are determined for different DG units, Q-sources including Static Var Compensator, Switched Capacitor or Shunt Capacitor and Step Voltage Regulator. A helpful method is presented to deal with the PV node, static voltage control model node and PI node during the power flow iteration, which makes Backward/Forward Sweeps technique suitable to calculate radial distributed system power flow with multiple node styles. Then an example of 28-node radial distribution system with DGs is performed to validate the method proposed in this paper. In addition, the simulation results show that DGs influence on voltage profile, power losses and voltage regulator operating status greatly.
