Abstract

The Family Health Program (FHP), instituted in 1994 by the Health Ministry, is constituted of a reorganization strategy of the attention system to health. However, the surgeon-dentist was only inserted in this proposal in 2000, with the creation of the Oral Health Teams (OHT). The fact of the dentistry not to be present since the beginning, possibly caused damages to the integralization process of the professionals and it can have determined varied forms in the implantation process of the OHT. Thus, the objective of this work is to carry out a critical review on the actions and the methods of evaluation achieved by dentistry in the FHP, as well as to propose a new form of assessment of actions of the professionals inserted in this context of work. For the achievement of this study, a research, under the Scielo, MEDLINE and BBO databases, using the key-words FHP and Dentistry. The inclusion criterion of the articles was consisted of studies that dealt with the actions and the evaluation methods of the activities of the surgeon-dentist in the FHP, published from 2001. The results showed that, in spite of the FHP introduce a new logic that breaks with the historical practice of the dentistry, what often happens is the linear transference of the work place of the surgeon-dentist. There is a necessity for the implantation of evaluation systems toward the capture of qualitative data that reflect the experience of the inserted professionals in this process of reorientation of the attention practices in oral health.
