Abstract

Abstract I. INTRODUCTION The present investigation is a feasibility study of a spatial triangulation scheme covering the Australian continent, using the geometric satellite geodesy method. This method is a highly accurate means of relative-position determination of points on the Earth's surface that are separated by thousands of kilometers. As the method is independent of gravity and of any assumptions concerning the shape of the Earth, it is a most powerful means of precise-position fixation on a global scale.
