Abstract

The fusion of a myeloma and splenic plasma cell can yield a hybrid which continues to secrete antibody, and includes the specific antibody being made by the plasma cell (1). This finding has opened the way for producing continuous cloned cell lines as a source of monoclonal antibodies with known specificity. In this paper we summarize our experience in the generation of a hybrid cell line producing antibody of the IgM class specific for the mouse Ig-lb allotypic marker antigen.
