Abstract

PCM (Phase Change Memory) as next generation non-volatile storage media, has shown more better properties. However, there is no avoiding the fact that PCM has poor write performance and endurance, comparing with DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory). Another engine that drives this paper is the development of the cloud computing, which carries more and more virtual machine applications. Therefore, we proposed a hybrid main memory architecture built with DRAM and PCM. As an optimization techniques, we introduced data deduplication and designed a novel mapping structure to accommodate the main memory. We have implemented a simulator to evaluate the hybrid memory and the results show that the transaction latency is reduced about 84.02%.
