Abstract

The power system problems such as power loss and voltage regulation in Radial Distribution System (RDS) can be solved by the integration of the Distributed Generation (DG) in the RDS. The best location and sizing of DG is very challenging concern for maximizing the benefits. Inappropriate placement and capacity of DG may adverse the effect of DG benefits. The artificial intelligence based optimization techniques such as fuzzy, Genetic Algorithm (GA), Particle Swarm optimization (PSO) are very helpful to solve such problems. The objective of this paper is to find optimal location and sizing of DG to minimize the active and reactive power losses and to improve voltage profile of the RDS. In this paper, optimum location is determined by fuzzy system and PSO is used to design the optimal size of DG for standard IEEE 33-bus radial distribution test system.
