Abstract

A hybrid technique is proposed for the analysis of radiating elements in slotted-waveguide antennas. Unlike conventional approaches, the technique formulates the field in the geometrically discretized aperture or slot in terms of a functional. Consequently, the requirements to provide a dyadic Green's function for the aperture or an attenuated field model in an equivalent branch waveguide, as encountered in the conventional moment method, are avoided, and hence it has the ability to treat irregularly shaped coupling or radiating apertures. Comparisons with the conventional moment method, for a typical radiating slot geometry, are presented and these confirm the validity of the proposed technique. It is intended to extend the method to examine the problem of radiating T-shaped apertures in a bifurcated waveguide.
