Abstract
The paper presents a hybrid expert system, based on the joint use of a best-first search strategy and a neural network model of the power system voltage/reactive power relationship, which assists the system operator in the voltage profile control task. A Prolog program, based on the proposed strategy, has been developed. Many tests carried out on standard systems have shown promising results.
