Abstract
A patient acquired rabies from the bite of skunk, despite prophylactic treatment with duck-embryo vaccine. Although rabies virus was not recovered from the patient's saliva and Negri bodies were not found in his brain, rabies developed in infant mice intracranially inoculated with brain homogenate. This is the first case of human rabies in Minnesota since 1917.
