Abstract

This paper shows the tension and looper control in the hot strip finishing mill based on PWA (piecewise affine) systems with sequential mode transtion. Therefore, the proposed method in this paper formulate the hybrid model predictive control problem as an optimal control problem with an unknown terminal time, and the terminal condition. The proposed control law is derived by solving nonlinear equations in an on-line manner. It also utilizes the continuation/GMRES (Generalized Minimal Residual) method for solving the nonlinear equations efficiently. Finally, the simulation results are illustrated to show that the proposed method works well.
