Abstract
A hot box type solar cooker having a double glass cover and a plane mirror reflector has been tested for its thermal performance. The cooker is kept horizontal in sunlight with its reflector vertical, facing south. Data for the maximum attainable temperature in an empty cooker box are taken during different months in Delhi and analysed. The data suggest that modifications are needed in the cooker design if it is to be used satisfactorily throughout the year in Delhi. The scope for its modification is discussed. A test procedure based on stagnation temperature and solar insolation measurement is also presented.
