Abstract

Unstable equilibrium points are important for transient stability analysis of power systems since they can indicate the boundary of the region of attraction regarding a stable equilibrium point. This paper proposes a new holomorphic embedding method to find unstable equilibrium points for multi-generator power systems by solving an equivalent power flow problem considering generator speeds. The problem formulation and the proposed method are presented in detail and then verified on the IEEE 3-generator 9-bus power system with different parameters.
