Abstract

It is used the Hirshfeld surface (HS) analysis to discuss the strength of the interactions in the rubidium selenate. The HS analysis is required to predict the properties of an ionic crystal. This analysis becomes a valuable tool for the quantitative clarification of the crystal structure and it is ncessary for the choice of crystal application. The Hirshfeld surface and its fingerprint plots were used. Almost 86.2% of the total HS was related to Rb⋯O/O⋯Rb interactions. The calculated enrichment ratios analysis showed that the most favored contacts (expressed by Er value of 1.75) are O⋯Rb, followed by Se⋯Rb (Er = 1.68). A repulsive character possesses Se⋯O; O⋯O and Rb⋯Rb interactions which were with significantly low enrichment ratios values. The infrared spectra of rubidium selenate are presented and discussed.
