Abstract

The Pr3+-doped Sr2Al2SiO7 phosphors with red emission were synthesized by conventional solid-state reaction in air for the first time. The photoluminescence properties of the phosphors and structural phase were investigated. The red emission of the phosphors was observed under the range of 420–500 nm excitation, which covered the emission spectra of blue LED. The optimal emission intensity was obtained when Pr-doping content was 0.008 mol and the chromaticity coordinates of these phosphors could be slightly tuned by changing the Pr3+ concentration. Furthermore, the investigation of temperature dependence of luminescence and the water immersion experiment indicated that the Pr-doped Sr2Al2SiO7 phosphors were highly thermally stable and waterproof.
