Abstract
1. An organ bath of very small volume (100 μl) has been designed for the superfusion of long thin molluscan muscles. The plan of this microbath is presented in detail. 2. Isolated in the microbath, radula protractor muscles from small specimens of the lightning whelk ( Busycon contrarium) can be used to assay as little as 0.1 pmols of the molluscan neuropeptide FMRFamide.
