Abstract

A metal complexing indicator displacement assay (M-IDA) based on competition between Zincon and Cyanide for binding with Zn (II) was developed to determine cyanide concentration. The concentration of CN− can be determined at pH=9.0 in some real sample by measuring the absorbance at 484nm. This system showed a XNOR logic function using Zn (II) and cyanide as chemical inputs and the color intensity of Zincon (at 484nm) as output. cyanide can be detected with a detection limit of 1.92×10−7molL−1 (0.005ppm) in a fast response below 15s and no interference of other anionic materials. The working range was improved by using PC-ANN algorithm. Cyanide detection method was applied to determine cyanide anion in biological samples.
