Abstract

A highly efficient synthesis of ( Z)- and ( E)-allyl iodides has been accomplished by treatment of Baylis–Hillman adducts with iodine and triphenylphosphine in methylene chloride at room temperature. The method is associated with mild reaction conditions, high yields and excellent stereoselectivity.
