Abstract

In this paper, a new design of dual-polarized horn antenna with high performance for sub 6 GHz applications. The structure of the antenna is composed of a quadruple-ridged waveguide, a shorting plate as a cavity back, and flare sections with tapered quadruple-ridges. The proposed dual-polarized horn antenna is designed to support the sub-6 spectrum and provides 1.7-3.5 GHz operation band with 69% fractional bandwidth. The presented antenna design’s most important characteristics have been studied, and quite promising results are achieved. The introduced horn antenna exhibits broad bandwidth, dual-polarization, high efficiencies, and gain characteristics. Also, the feeding port’s mutual coupling is better than -27 dB. Furthermore, the simulated results and measured data of the implemented prototype show sufficient agreement. The proposed antenna can support the integration of 5G technologies into the present networks.
