Abstract

Abstract A high-speed communication system has been developed for the distribution of weather information. The system functions through the use of standard telephone circuits at speeds of 1500 and 2400 bits-per-second in a selected-apical party line mode. The following equipments, specially developed to accommodate the high-speed transmission function, are evaluated: 1) a master control station; 2) a data selection unit; 3) special purpose transmitters; and 4) a high-speed receiver and printer. Special coding techniques to indicate system errors without the use of parity-bit checking devices are also described.
