Abstract

An ultrafast transfer system was installed at the TRIGA-Mark III reactor FRN. The system is working automatically and is synchronized with the reactor pulse. The time between the end of neutron irradiation and the start of measurement is less than 30 ms for a tube lenght of 17 feet. Another specific characteristic of the equipment is the self-acting separation of sample and transfer capsule and the stability of flight time (≤ ± 1.5%). The system is used for measurements of short-lived nuclides for neutron activation analysis application ( 207mPb, 38mCl, 24mNa, 12B et al.) and especially for investigations of short-lived fission products of 239Pu and 235U. First results gave some new data concerning the halflife time and formation rate of short-lived fission products.
