Abstract

The geometrical theory of diffraction (GTD) model is a more precise electromagnetic scattering model than damped exponential (DE) model. It is useful for sub-band fusion, especially in large bandwidth cases, for it accurately depicts the scattering center amplitude in different frequency. Generally, researchers use DE model to estimate the parameters of GTD model, and it works well in narrow bandwidth data, but the approximate error increases as the bandwidth increasing. So in this paper, we deduce the relation between GTD model and DE model again, and derive a new expression of DE model, which is more closer to GTD model than the usual one, then GTD parameters are given by solve the new DE model. Experiment shows that the proposed method can increase the precision of parameter estimation.
