Abstract

Harmonic pollution as same as reactive power consumption are two major concerns according to the increase of non-linear loads. To overcome these concerns, one of the best solution is the shunt active power filter (SAPF). However, precise reactive and harmonic detection beside generation are vital issues in SAPF. Previous methods suffer from weak performance under low harmonic components and high harmonics amplitude. To remove these limitations and also, thanks to the benefits of the wavelet transform (WT), a high performance reactive and harmonic components detection method is proposed in this paper. The proposed method provides high dynamic response in addition to precise harmonic components detection. Several experimental and simulation studies beside results confirm the high characteristic of the proposed method in which, the THD% decrease from 23% to 4.7% and the dynamic response is lower than 2ms.
