Abstract

This paper describes the architecture and design concepts of the AM29116 microprogrammable bipolar microprocessor with 100ns cycle time. Systems throughput and design for tradeoffs are analysed and a typical application - a high speed disc controller is described. Present and future parts for microprogrammed controller design are also reviewed.
