Abstract

1.1. A series of twenty electrophoretic variants of serum albumin has been observed in Ensatina eschscholtzi.2.2. Successive albumin peaks differ in their mobility by about 2 per cent and the fastest albumin in the series is about 50 per cet faster than the lowest.3.3. Each geographic race has its own constellation of albumin types.4.4. Average albumin mobility changes with latitude, with northern populations having faster albumins than southern populations.5.5. There is overlap of albumin types among contgous subspecies.6.6. These data are consistent with taxonomic conclusions based on morphological criteria.
