Abstract

A stable high order difference method is developed for solving the heated cavity and the driven cavity problems governed by the steady state Navier-Stokes equations. The numerical results compared favorably with other methods. Coordinate transformations were also used to reflect the boundary layer phenonmena without requiring many mesh points. The methods used in this paper are accurate, stable, and applicable to other flow problems governed by the Navier-Stokes equations.
