Abstract

In this article, we present an accurate finite difference scheme for solving the KdV equation with time-periodic forcing at boundary. We first employ a variable transformation to change the time-periodic boundary to a homogeneous boundary. We then develop a three-level fourth-order accurate finite difference scheme for solving the transformed KdV problem. The stability, existence and uniqueness of the numerical solution are analyzed. Numerical examples are provided to confirm the accuracy of the scheme, and the effectiveness for time-periodic simulation.
