Abstract

APIs, such as Parlay, open up networks to third party developers. They provide new opportunities for rapid and efficient service creation. However, they may be considered too low level by some developers. New service creation environments (SCE) with a higher level of abstraction lead to even faster and more efficient service creation. We report on our experiment in designing and implementing a SCE and a service logic execution environment (SLEE) for Parlay API in a session initiation protocol (SIP) environment. The approach is very promising although the scope of the services that can be created is still limited to services such as wake up call, call centres, where the calls are initiated by the applications.
