Abstract

A compact Vivaldi antenna with enhanced gain having band notch characteristics in the WLAN band (5.15–5.825GHz) is proposed. By using combination of corrugation and grating elements, the gain of antenna B is improved and the side lobe levels of the radiation pattern are reduced over the ultra-wideband (UWB). Based the high gain Vivaldi antenna B, the antenna C with the notch band limited by the WLAN is achieved with the help of printed, novel, capacitively loaded loop (CLL) resonators. To illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed design, the proposed antenna C is fabricated on 0.8 mm thick low cost FR4 substrate (39*45mm2) and measured. The measured results show that the antenna C operates for 2.9 GHz to more than 14 GHz with S11< −10dB and significantly reject the 5–5.9 GHz frequency band.
