Abstract

A 220GHz artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) on-chip antenna has been designed using CMOS process. Based on the SMIC 180nm RF 1P6M process, a small loop antenna is designed and simulated for miniaturization. The designed antenna is placed at the M6 layer and AMC structure is placed at the Ml layer. The antenna unit with AMC achieves 5.72dB gain at 220GHz and 17GHz bandwidth. The above structure has good compatibility with CMOS processes.
