Abstract

Graphite-oxide (GO) is a covalent-type graphite intercalation compound, which has been reported to be a precursor of graphene oxide. A lithium battery with a GO positive electrode and a lithium metal negative electrode following the first charge/discharge cycle is reported that acts as a hybrid capacitor (HC) and has a high volumetric energy density. In this HC, the discharged (electrochemically-reduced) GO positive electrode behaves as a capacitor-like electrode.
