Abstract

Abstract A hierarchical sorting method with semantic description is developed to address sorting issues in management decisions. This approach achieves optimal hierarchical clustering results by incorporating indicators of intra-similarity, inter-similarity, and total similarity. Additionally, it integrates the axiomatic fuzzy sets theory to produce a semantic description of the hierarchical sorting results. The developed method can provide a good semantic expression for sorting results from a multi-level perspective and assist decision-makers in making reasonable decisions at different levels. This study takes the 40 main seaports as application examples for analyzing the applicability and practicability of the designed method.
